Automated device for the online monitoring of biodegradable organic material (BOD) in water systems such as WWTP and industrial effluent.
The BOD-TOX device is completely automated and may be adapted for the remote capture of data. Alarm generation is activated when present BOD values rise above a preset acceptable threshold limit, furthermore, any sample resulting in the generation of an alarm is stored in conditions conducive for posterior analysis. Measurement frequency is programmable and is normally about 12 to 15 recordings per day. Low cost per analysis (0.4€). Good correleation with the time-consuming and costly traditional methods for calculating BOD (DBO5).
Industrial utility is demonstrated through the 210,000 hours that the device has been used in the field. Moreover, this device has been objectively asessed by academic and government experts, as well as WWTP managers. The conclusion being that our device is "an ideal biosensor" (EU Concerted Action BIOSET, 2000).
